On the grey, rainy morning of Sam and Michelle’s wedding at Powdermills Hotel in Battle, we arrived to some very excited Bridesmaids who were busy getting ready alongside the Bride, Brides Mother and friends. The room was a hub of activity, with make-up, hair, dress fitting and general merriment all around. The weather certainly wasn’t going to dampen their spirits . When Michelle came out in her dress all the girls had a tear in their eye, which was really lovely to see. A really special time in the brides day is when Dad comes and see her in all her glory, it really tugs at the heart strings and on this day I think everyone had a lump in their throat, luckily I can hide behind my camera….
Unfortunately the couple couldn’t get married by the lake as they wished due to the weather, it was one reasons they choose the venue as Sam loves to fish. Fortunately as they came out of the service the rain stopped and we quickly rattled through the group shots, I love the heart shaped group photo, great fun. Sam and Michelle didn’t want too much fuss with their romantic shots but we convinced them to go for a little stroll, I’m so glad they did as they looked great.
After some fun and emotional speeches we set up a photograph with special lighting at a little gazebo which was just outside the reception room. The sky was looking great and we wanted to wait until the light was perfect to capture this picture. I had a vision in my eye of how it would look and I’m chuffed with the outcome, so were the couple, which makes it all worth while. We stayed until after the speeches and left in the rain again, but were very lucky for the time we were there, the wedding fairies were on our side… ha ha.
