Another fabulous wedding for a Rye wedding photographer at the beautiful Strand House in Winchelsea near Rye. We love this venue which is ideal for the small, intimate wedding .
The hotel dates from the 14th Century making it even older than the famous Mermaid Hotel in Rye, Sussex. It was a hospital inhabited by monks and was added to in the 15th Century when it was the village workhouse. Close to the Cinque Ports of Rye and Winchelsea, the hotel is full of period detail with has low oak beamed ceilings in many of the rooms, winding stairs, inglenook fireplaces in both the lounge and dining room, leaded windows. The garden is really picturesque and on Mark and Lyndsey’s day it was full of Spring flowers which looks stunning in the pictures.
Mark and Lyndsey came over with their family from Essex for their wedding, they wanted a small no fuss affair but still with the beautiful dress and the usual fun of a wedding. The couple met us before the wedding and informed that Lyndsey isn’t keen on having her picture taken. Well I think she did fantastically well and looks so beautiful in the pictures. As you can see she and her sister had the most striking blue eyes, which pop out of the photographs and have been a real joy to edit.
We started with the prep shots where Lyndsey was accompanied by two bridesmaids and a sweet flower girl. Instead of the normal bridal shoes she opted for lace up white boots, very sensible as we went into a field full of sheep for some romantic pictures. The sun was shinning brightly and was the perfect day for a spring wedding. After the service the guests could have champagne and canapes on the lawn and we could take the couple around the garden to make the best of those flowers.
