Lorna and Luke chose a really different venue for their big day. White Rock theatre in Hastings may not be the first place that springs to mind for a wedding but as Lorna and Luke’s pictures show it was a really special location for this special couple. White Rock theatre, Hastings has only recently ventured into hosting wedding ceremonies and we were honoured to be the first wedding photographers in East Sussex to shoot there. There was a theatrical feel to the day with everything from the bill boards and posters to table names being designed to reflect who’s day it was in a big Hollywood type way!
The service was actually held on the stage with the guests seated in the theatre audience’s normal seats. Stage lighting was used to set the mood and a wonderful set of props were designed and used to decorate the stage area. The low lighting conditions were a challenge but we were still able to capture some stunning photographs. After the service the group shots were taken on the stage and then the couple headed out to the newly rebuilt Hastings Pier with us for some great romantic shots. As you can see we made great use of the pier’s boarded walkway and furniture. The weather stayed bright and sunny which is always good, although as is often declared by photographers too much sun can be a bad thing. Fortunately as experienced and skilled photographers we know how to cope in just about any conditions hopefully you will see this and the results speak for themselves.
Our reportage or documentary style photography was put to good use with lots of natural shots presenting themselves as well as some slightly more posed couple shots inside the main entrance way of the theatre. The imposing stairs and 1920’s style finish of much of the theatre gives a real classic retro feel to some of the pictures, which we just loved.
The White Rock Theatre proved to be an excellent venue and the staff were very professional in their approach to the celebration, we’re looking forward to our next wedding there!
