Pete and Emma
What a pleasure it was to photograph Pete and Emma’s wedding. We were lucky enough to photograph her brothers wedding two years ago on the Amalfi Coast in Italy and know the lovely family well now, they really are a pleasure to work for.
Emma had been planning her day for a long time and had plenty of people to organise ,with four bridesmaids, three flower girls and four page boys there was a lot to think about. We started by photographing the prep shots at Flackley Ash Hotel, this is where the reception was to held too. Flackley Ash Hotel is a privately owed Georgian Country House set in pretty gardens in the East Sussex countryside in a village called Peasmarsh near Rye.
The wedding service was held in the pretty St Mary’s church at Rye Harbour, a five mile journey from the hotel. The weather was a bit drizzly but this didn’t dampen spirits, Emma arrived a a beautiful vintage car, greater by had many bridesmaids. Pete was nervously waiting in the church with his two best men, who were a real giggle and I’m sure were teasing him endlessly.
The rain stopped long enough after the service for us to capture the group photos but unfortunately started again for our romantic shots. The couple really wanted to have pictures taken at the famous Mermaid Street in Rye. This is fast becoming our trademark image with lots of couples wanting this amazing backdrop for their photo’s. I particually like these images with Pete and Emma as I think the umbrella adds something and the lighting is fab, no horrid sunlight to deal with.
Back at the hotel Emma had set the room beautiful with vintage crockery, even the cake looked like a teapot. The guests enjoyed a carvery, we captured some lovely pictures in the grounds and stayed until after the first dance and had a wonderful day.
