This was our first time photographing a wedding at Ashdown Park hotel, Forest Row in East Sussex and what a treat it was!
The Ashdown Park Hotel is a stunning wedding venue situated in the Ashdown Forest, which inspired A.A. Milne to write his Winnie The Pooh stories, in East Sussex. The neo-Gothic Victorian manor house, now Grade II listed, was constructed by Thomas Charles Thompson MP in 1867 and has subsequently served as a convent before becoming a country house hotel in 1993. The hotel is set in beautifully landscaped grounds with a lake. Weddings are conducted in the Richard Towneley Suite, a converted chapel with a magnificent vaulted hammer beam ceiling and beautiful stained glass windows – a truly wonderful location for wedding photograph!
Our lovely couple of the day were Stuart and Chelsea who had booked us a while ago after we had photographed other members of their family, it’s always nice to see past couples.
They were getting married outside overlooking the beautiful lake. Fortunately the weather was stunning so everyone could relax and enjoy the day. Chelsea and her bridesmaids enjoyed a fun morning getting ready in a large spacious suite over looking the grounds , while the groom and his men were outside meeting guests and Family, this was to be a big family affair, including young and old.
Chelsea walked with her proud Dad to a beaming Stuart, they obviously couldn’t wait to tie the knot. Walking back through their guests in a shower on confetti they looked blissfully happy.
We captured the group photos, then took a tour of the grounds with the couple for the romantic shots, finding a secret garden covered in colourful summer flowers, picture perfect!
The dining hall is an incredible backdrop for the reception where we stayed for the speeches and first dance , then left the couple to dance the night away.
